Biography

John Hayes is a multi-instrumentalist and producer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. His debut album By the Woods arrived in 2018, followed by The Last Best Place in 2020. Two collaborative albums came next, the electronically minded Borealis with Maxy Dutcher (Moderna) and the gorgeously spacious Du Nord with Elskavon (Western Vinyl.) In 2022, He released his expansive new record, Beautifully Lost Mind, via Nettwerk. The ten-song odyssey explores the depths of sanity through subtle ambient soundscapes, muted pianos, and layers of synthesizers. Through collaborations and solo work John has established a truly unique sound. Known for expansive, atmospheric sounds, his delicate blend of ambient and electronic music has garnered fans worldwide, including KEXP, BBC, and James Heather’s Soho Radio Show ‘Moving Sounds.’ Hayes previously performed regularly as the resident pianist for the award-winning Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, reinstating a connection between airports and ambient music that dates back to Eno’s Ambient 1: Music for Airports. John currently writes, records and produces music out of his studio in Denver, Colorado.
