Formed in 1972 in southern Italy, but swiftly making the decision to base themselves in Rottwei, Germany, Atlantide was a Black Sabbath/Atomic Rooster-esque band formed by four brothers, guitarist Mimmo, keyboard player Leonardo, bassist Mario and drummer Matteo Sanseverino. Swiftly establishing themselves in their adopted homeland, Atlantide gained considerable exposure touring with the likes of the Scorpions, Atlantis and Message - although, when they came to cut their one and only album, as late as 1976, they remained loyal to their roots, performing the songs entirely in Italian. Issued on the band's own S label, Francesco Ti Ricordi was nevertheless released in Germany only. It has since been reissued on the Mellow label. ~ Dave Thompson, Rovi
