SaturnVybz (to some known as Merse) has looked at music from every angle in the past 20 years: as instrumentalist, composer, producer and mixer. It started much earlier. As a little boy he learned piano and soon started cos-playing as composer, writing scores for symphonies he gave his parentsas gifts for Christmas. Little did anyone know that it would all transpire into something real. This happened when he was to improvise a solo on the trombone in the local school big band in South Germany. From this point on everything was about Jazz and led him to study Jazz Trombone in Berlin. But that wasn't the endgame yet. SaturnVybz wanted to write and produce music. This would take him on a 15 year journey to thoroughly learn the craft and thereby working with many amazing people and founding three different projects. All the while this composing thing had never really gone away and pieces that would not work in other projects piled up on his hard drive. Finally, he found a reason to put them out in the world when Frische Luft Music asked him if he had solo stuff to put out. He had. For him it's always about soul and groove, but increasingly also about form and the frontier of harmonious construction. Drawing from Mozart, Handel, Bach and Brahms as well as from 70s Soul, 80s Pop, 90s HipHop and all kinds of electronic music, he always seeks to stay on an interesting path, avoiding to become stale and maudlin on the one hand – as well as aloof or too edgy on the other.
