Biography

Stu Brooks is a two-time grammy nominated, Canadian born/Los Angeles-based bass player, producer, songwriter and founding member of the genre-bending band Dub Trio. Stu is bassist and co-producer for the multi-award winning filmscore composer and founder of Oingo Boingo, Danny Elfman. His work on the project includes producing collaborations with Trent Reznor and Iggy Pop and executive producing over 20 remixes. He is currently producing songs for Perry Farrell’s upcoming solo album as well as playing bass for his Kind Heaven Orchestra. He is also bassist, musical director and frequent collaborator for GRiZ and spent a decade with Matisyahu as bassist, co-writer, MD and producer. His bass performances have played a role in the creation of a number of Billboard charting and Platinum certified recordings, including the Grammy-nominated Pretty Lights album “A Color Map Of The Sun”, #7 Billboard hit “So Seductive featuring 50 Cent”, Tony Yayo’s Platinum Certified “Thoughts of a Predicate Felon” and 50 Cent’s 9x Platinum album “Get Rich Or Die Trying”. He also served as the bassist on the Lady Gaga demos that famously attracted the attention of Interscope. Past production, songwriting and playing collaborations include G Koop, Eric Wilson (Sublime), Fever333, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Meshell Ndegeocello, Mobb Deep, Mike Patton/Peeping Tom, Tupac Shakur (posthumously), Wiz Khalifa, Bootsy Collins, P.O.D., Kid Cudi, Wett Brain, 311, Run DMC and many more.
