Van Clifford Tunguia, known professionally as Hero Tunguia, is a Chicago-based rapper/songwriter from Dipolog City, Philippines. Best known for his lyrical assault delivery and witty humor style of hip-hop that engages on unconventional topics. Musical Career In 2007, he co-founded Rebel Doggs and formed the rap group Nopetsallowed which ultimately ignited a new era of Visayan lyrical hip-hop style with polarizing reactions from critics due to its gritty, unconventional and sometimes sexual humor. As one of the founding members of Nopetsallowed, they released their first mixtape in 2010, Timpladang Pangtambay. The album was well received locally and through word of mouth slowly spread in other regions of Visayas and Mindanao. Hero is renowned as one of the most recognizable voices of Visayan hip hop according to fans and most of his peers, citing his original flow and lyrical abilities on the mic. In 2017, he released his first solo studio EP, Hi Haters, with Sevenwordz on the production. In 2020, he released his second studio EP, Blap Season, a collaboration with fellow labelmate and Rebel Doggs co-founder Ack Ibanez. On November 2020, as part of the Rebel Doggs roster, Hero Tunguia signed a deal with Warner Music Philippines.
