Biography

Ney player and composer, hi was born in 1970 in Chaloos. He graduated from the University of Tehran. He began learning Ney first from Abdonaghi Afsharnia, and after entering the university, in addition to his courses there, he continued his work under the supervision of Mohammadali Kiani Nejad. From his early years at the university, he began his career by founding ensembles and performing. In 1998 together with Kayhan Kalhor, he joined the Chinese virtuoso Cellist, YoYo Ma’s the Silk Road Project. This collaboration has resulted in more than 500 concerts and workshops in European countries, America, Canada, and various Asian countries and also the publication of three CDs with this project. In 2005 the Abdolghader ensemble founded by Mohammadreza Darvishi and vocal of Homayoun Shajarian, published the Showq Nameh collection, which Siamak Jahangiri was a member of this ensemble. In 2010 he accompanied maestros Hossein Alizadeh and Keyhan Kalhor in their concerts in America and Canada. This collaboration continued with Hossein Alizadeh and Shahram Nazeri in the Doosti Ensemble. His collaboration with Hossein Alizadeh continues today as he is a member of the Ham-Avayan ensemble. “Wateresque” is the first album in which he as experimented on the Persian classical music with the clarinet.
