Otis Mensah is a musician and multidisciplinary artist exploring the intersection of poetry and experimental music. Taking influence from the rhythmic and expressive freedom of Jazz, Otis’ work uses aesthetic language as an instrument to solo through themes of race, identity and the body. Since being appointed a Poet Laureate in 2018, Otis has sold-out their debut poetry collection Safe Metamorphosis published with London's Prototype in 2020 and has debuted at festivals like Glastonbury & We Out Here as well as opening for Nightmares On Wax, Moor Mother and Little Simz. WINTERSKIN is Otis' latest album released on Berlin record label lekker collective and with its ballad-esque emotion it embraces its experimentation and stands in the inspiration of artists like Yves Tumor, Moor Mother and Noname. Imbued with underlying shyness, tender-chaos and abstract cadence, the album paints the body as a vehicle for dreaming and explores notions of infatuation, haunting and the things that haunt us.
