Fortunat Frölich was commissioned by the Federal Department of Culture to write the music for the official anniversary celebration "150 Years of the Swiss Confederation", which was premiered on the Bundesplatz in Bern in 1998. The chamber opera "black tell" was premiered at the Swiss National Exhibition (Expo02).
