Singer-songwriter, rapper and composer Nujee was born in Newark, New Jersey as Najee Jamil Etchison. Like the famous sax player, whom he was named after, he too found himself drawn to the pursuit of music. Throughout his life, Nujee was inspired by a mix of old school R&B and rap artists such as Baby Face, Bobby Brown, Fabolous, 50 cent, Tupac and many more. Following the example set by a select few of his musical peers, Nujee entered the Navy in 2014 and criss-crossed the country. As that career unfolded, so did a more serious relationship with music emerge. From 2017 onwards, he diligently traveled every week from his base in Virginia to New Jersey to record his songs. That journey led to the release of 2 singles in 2018 titled ‘Kiss & Touch’ and ‘FN’, which were quickly followed by ‘Open Book Torn Pages’ released in 2019. However, Nujee recognised that if he was to become a truly respected artist, the transformation would not be complete unless he dedicated his entire being to the life he envisioned. A testament to his dedication, he left the military in 2019 to pursue music full time. That decision resulted in the release of his much anticipated Project ‘Lion’s Roar’ and the viral hit single ‘Space Jam’ featuring Ib Mattic. The album, comprising 14 tracks, include re-recordings of his originals which have been enjoyed by listeners around the world. Nujee’s unique style and flow is supported by lyrical content that sends a powerful message in terms of his own truths.
