Toronto based artist/songwriter Benita is an impeccable vocalist, born and raised in Toronto. Benita started her musical journey performing in musicals, school coffee houses, to then singing backup for local artists in Toronto including singing in a choir for Daniel Caesar’s Freudian Tour. While being a participant of The Remix Project in 2019, she then found her way diving into releasing her own original music including her debut EP "SCARLET" which has accumulated over a million streams on all platforms and gained a sync placement on BET's "Diggstown". Past performances include Manifesto 2022 on the Budweiser Stage in Toronto, along with "Ones To Watch" at the live nation lounge in 2023, and she proudly gained her first Juno nomination as a songwriter on Jon Vinyl's "Palisades" EP whom she also opened for in LA. She has also supported acts such as Savannah Re, Jesse Gold, Sara Diamond, and most recently RAAHiiM. She also proudly moderated a talk with the legend Melanie Fiona for her Amazon Original where they connected through their similar upbringing being two Guyanese/Canadian R&B artists. <3
