Biography

Detroit-born, Brooklyn-based rapper G. King best describes his sound as self-reflective, combining alternative, abrasive, and emotive elements to paint personal stories in his life. King’s ethos is developed from being in isolation as an only child. This forced him to value the importance of self-reliance and independence, now feeling more comfortable and focused when alone rather than with friends and family. One of his focal life lessons was learned early on: You can't second-guess your ability
That self-belief has resulted in a consistent stream of music since 2017. Following the mantra of intuition, King has been able to elevate his artistry every year by challenging himself sonically across collaborations and maintaining stability while working for Microsoft in New York City. He hopes that by also having attained a dual-degree from the University of Michigan, that he can be a beacon for people pursuing their music dreams while working in a corporate sector.
King grew up in a devoutly Christian home where his mother rarely played secular music. On days when he was around friends and family, artists like Gucci Mane, Jeezy, and Kanye West were his early inspirations. Listening to those artists taught him that flows & melodies are paramount to helping listeners absorb messages, and encouraged him to inculcate his music with substance and eclectic production.
