Swami, the former frontman of Iceman Swami, went solo after the duo split up in 2017, dropping his self-titled opus on his ‘I'm Going to Finland’ EP featuring his harmonious vocals, conscious lyricism and tight production. Swami’s wide range of musical influences growing up contributed to his ability to blend aspects of rock, dub, jazz, pop, and rap to create his own signature sound. When asked, “Why these influences?” He responded, “One of my first memories is listening to pop music on my parent's CD player. I grew up listening to music in the car ride between my mother’s house in South County, where the adults drank champagne and played jazz, and my father's apartment in Baltimore where he constantly played me jazz-rock and rap-rock fusions. The blur of genres was formulated in the the blur of time in the car, my love for music was found in the distance between my mother and father, and the blur between their different lifestyles allowed me to develop my own way of doing things that didn’t necessarily conform. That translated to music in this ‘Angry Boy’ genre.” Swami records, produces, mixes and masters all of his tracks, which gives his music a creative touch that is unmatched by his competition. Following his 10K stream milestone and the release of his latest single Shugyo, Swami went public with his first all-platform release and has been upfront about his intent to release his next project the same way.
