pecq are producer and multi-instrumentalist duo Hannah (Jakes) Jacobs (synth player for Barry Can’t Swim and Arlo Parks) and Niko O'Brien (engineer for the likes of Liz Fraser and Porij). The innovative pair create 'pop at its most exploratory' [Clash] and have been featured by the likes of BBC Radio 1, 2 and 6, Amazing Radio Top 40, Bandcamp Front Page, NOTION and the 6 Music Introducing Best of 2022. Their new EP ‘red moon rare night’ is a record about navigating isolation at different stages of life, looking at avoidant behaviour through the lens of queer identity, medical trauma, emigration, relationships, situationships and distance. Referencing the experimental, spiralling work of Boards Of Canada and Ultraísta along with the meditative songwriting of Sampha and Caribou as influences on their music, pecq bring together a broad set of influences, moving through choppy dance beats, twisting alt-pop melodies and blissful ambient daydreams.
