Biography

Saxophonist Brent Jensen has shared the stage with many renowned jazz artists including Gene Harris, Bobby Shew, Gary Foster, Jamie Findlay, David Sills, Warren Vache, Joe LaBarbera, John Clayton, Wycliffe Gordon, Bill Anschell, John Bishop, Jeff Johnson, John Stowell and others. His recordings have received national jazz radio airplay and have been featured in jazz periodicals such as Jazziz, Cadence, Jazz Improv, JazzTimes and Saxophone Journal. In 1986-87, Brent studied in New York City with jazz legend Lee Konitz on an Idaho Commission on the Arts grant. He was a featured winner of the “Woodwinds on Fire” international talent search conducted by Jazziz magazine in 1996. Brent made a striking debut on Origin Records in 2002 with “The Sound of a Dry Martini: Remembering Paul Desmond”. That disc charted in the Top 50 on jazz radio in the U.S. for over three months. “Dry Martini” held the #1 spot on a number of jazz radio station charts across the country including WRTI (Philadelphia, PA), WICN (Worcester, MA), and KUSD (Sioux Falls, SD). His “One More Mile” was named one of the top jazz releases of 2007 by the Village Voice. “We Couldn't Agree More” with pianist Bill Anschell was selected as a “Critic's Choice” in 2009 by Jazziz magazine.
