Hybridizing trap and boom bap, Malo BRIGADE effortlessly delivers high octane energy and natural conviction on a speedy syllable soundscape. Native to Chicago, Malo wielded critical writing skills early influenced by local rap spaces, a wide range of Golden Era acts, and contemporary namestakes from the 2010s. Hitting the ground running in 2020, Malo released his first 3-track EP, ‘Pressure’. Debuting its first single, “Searching,” through Shade45, the project was acclaimed by local music press. He included a full accompaniment of self produced visuals for the entirety of the EP, establishing Malo as a one-stop-shop powerhouse. Following the EP release, Malo opened up 2021 with his first self produced blitzing single, “Destinations.” Shortly after he delivered a versatilely contrasting writing offer, “Blood Moon.” Leading up to his first tape, Malo released a third self produced critically received single “Like That,” accompanied by a self directed visual. Established as a new Chicago artist, rollout began for Malo’s first full length mixtape, “y-i (Fin de Gee)”, an ode to the end of his previous moniker, Mahrv Gee, and introduction to his new creation of the #BRIGADE™️. Outputting two weighty singles, title track and intro, “y-i”, & bass heavy night activator, “808s”, Malo successfully created much anticipated waves for his first mixtape release. Through ‘22-‘23, Malo released a range of self engineered singles, preparing for a full arsenal of releases through 2024.
