Biography

Born and raised in Lewisham, South East London, rapper Don Strapzy—previously known as Dru Blu—has over ten years behind him in the UK rap game, and both the area he grew up in and his years of experience have been poured into his music and SE Dons, his Sunday League football team. Both the name Dru Blu and SE Dons take their names from the ends that raised Don: ‘Blu’ from Lewisham’s other name as the ‘Blue Borough’, and SE Dons from their South East London stomping ground.  “We’re bringing a different message,” he says of the club’s growing and passionate fanbase. “British culture’s very stiff. It’s very humble, which is good, but we’re coming with that confidence and that message of believing in yourself and we’re running with it. You either love us or you don’t, but you can’t deny the fact it’s very authentic. That’s why people have connected. That’s why the numbers are so high and why they’re still growing. Even in this period where there’s not much content to give them, they’re still sticking with us.” After a brief break in the music industry, Don Strapzy returned in 2017 with a bang. While laying the foundations for the YouTube channel—which was attracting a huge following of its own thanks to the SE Dons—a refreshed and revitalised Don decided to make the return to music. Now he can be the real Don Strapzy and do whatever he pleases, knowing it will always be something he can be proud of.
