Salazar composed predominantly sacred music including works in the genres of motets, Lamentations, mass parts, masses, hymns, accompaniments and assorted works. Seven villancicos for one to eight voices with instrumental accompaniment also survive. He served as a choirboy at the Cathedral in Seville where he became the choirmaster in 1685.
