Biography

Afronaut Zu is a British-Nigerian solo artist based in London, England. Currently, he is the live vocalist for Rudimental, Steam Down and Afro-Diasporic collective Ancestral Futures. Afronaut Zu's EP ‘Melanalia’ focuses on vivid observations of my surroundings, and sonically exploring his truest thoughts and feelings towards the world’s current climate from a “Melanalian’s” perspective or more commonly known as ‘other’. More recently, Afronaut Zu has featured on the Blue Note Re:Imagined album on Steam Down’s version of ‘Etcetera’ originally composed by Wayne Shorter, which has since received over 1.7 million streams and appears on the FIFA21 official soundtrack, as well as the new highly acclaimed Paramount+ romcom ‘Flatshare'. Afronaut Zu also features on a number of other notable releases too, including Rudimental’s ‘Krazy’, 2 Fox’s ‘Inner Drum’, ‘Tomorrow’ and ‘Problem’ as well ‘No Be Today’ with collaborator Scrimshire. Afronaut Zu’s latest feature is with 16-piece supergroup Balimaya Project’s first single ‘For Aziz’ from their new album, and is available to listen to on all streaming platforms. Currently, Afronaut Zu is in the process of recording his highly anticipated debut album, following on from the release of Melanalia.
