Artist Daniel Boateng, goes by the stage name “Danny Boy Smooth”. His family’s origins stem from Ghana, West Africa but he was born in London, England, South London's Croydon to be exact. Moving to the Bronx, NY at the age of 3 Danny Boy practically grew up a New Yorker. Now residing in the very birthplace of hip hop only sped up his exposure to drugs, violence, gangs and its culture. Danny Boy Smooth started experimenting with music and found his passion when he got into Rap/Hip Hop. When he was 9 years old he started recording in the studio with one of his older cousins named Jeffrey. Being from such a musically inclined family where his mother was a singer at church, his uncle Solo a DJ and Ed an MC, his musical abilities would be inherently passed down to him. Around the same time he started rapping he also started playing basketball and had aspired to one day play in the NBA. It was organized basketball that taught him discipline, communication skills and built the confidence he has instilled in himself today.He was always a student first, athlete second and decided that he would further his education attending St.John’s University, majoring in Mass Communications, graduating in 2015. He later returned, receiving his Masters Degree in Intermediate Advertising Communications. Along his master's journey he got to deepen his experience with the music industry while Interning for RocNation.
