Biography

Wojciech Czepiel (born in 1959) – conductor, composer and violinist from Poland. At the Krakow Music Academy, he studied violin under the guidance of Antoni Cofalik and Kaja Danczowska, along with studying composition and instrumentation with Tadeusz Machl, techniques of composition with Bogusław Schaeffer and conducting in the class of Krzysztof Missona. He graduated in 1984 with distinction. As a conductor, he was a director of such orchestras as Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk, Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw, Symphony Orchestra of Kraków Music Academy and Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra in Beirut. He also worked as a conductor in the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic in Łódź and Warsaw Chamber Opera. As a guest conductor, he performed with Moscow Bolshoi Theater Orchestra, Qatar Philharmonic, Palermo Symphony Orchestra, Lviv Virtuosos, Ploesti Philharmonic, Polish National Radio Symphony in Katowice, Opéra de Saint-Etienne and many others. He recorded for Polish Radio and for Arts, Denon, Polskie Nagrania, Pro Musica Camerata, Dux and Deutsche Welle. In May 2012, Wojciech Czepiel received from Polish Minister of Culture the Gloria Artis medal for his artistic achievements. Among his compositions there are Sonata for violin, Cadenzas for 3rd Violin Concerto of Mozart, 24 duos for two violins, Capriccio for flute, pieces for piano,Songs for voice and piano and pieces for orchestra: Sequenza I, Sequenza II, Noveletta, Studium Pieniny 2016, Partita for Chamber Ensemble.
