Stephen Knight has spent a great deal of his life so deeply entrenched in electronic music, that becoming a DJ seemed more like an inevitability than a hobby. Growing up in London on a strict diet of House music, he began frequenting Fabric and the Ministry Of Sound, and immediately developed a strong affinity for legendary DJ John Digweed, as well as a host of other high pedigree DJs and producers including the Argentinian maestro Hernan Cattaneo. When Steve later moved to Southampton in 2008, he joined the ‘High Tide’ team as a promoter and resident DJ, having hosted parties with some of the world’s most renowned DJs. Among his memorable moments, he has played alongside revered names such as Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones, Sasha, Scuba, James Zabiela, Alan Fitzpatrick, Patrick Topping and Nicole Moudaber. This kind of broad education has of course influenced Stephen a great deal – in his sets you can expect anything from stripped back, minimal groves to more melodic, uplifting and driving techno. In the last 18 months, Stephen has taken a side step from DJing and has been tirelessly working on his productions taking inspiration from his favourite producers, the result being deep and dubby house music to more melodic tech house. Stephen had his inaugural release on High Tide Recordings – a label set up with his friends Collective States’ Gary Bennetton and Dan Reid along with Matt “Pound Note” Conrad.
