Sample King knew from the first time he stepped onto a stage that he wanted to be a performer. He has always had a passion for music, especially for reggae and dancehall. Born Marlon Hull in Kingston, Jamaica, Sample King moved to Canada at the age of 12. It was here that he began his musical career while performing in his high school talent show. Now a popular dancehall and reggae artist, Sample King has been called, “one of Toronto’s greatest dancehall artists” (Shawn Bush, G View TV). Presenting his empowering music to crowds of fans around the world, Sample King has played in Canada, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, England, United States and Zimbabwe. He has performed with many renowned artists including Beenie Man, Busta Rhymes, Drake, Pop Caan, Rick Ross, Sizzla, and Vibez Kartel, and has been recognized by some of the biggest dancehall promoters and DJ’s, earning awards for artist of the year, best dubplate artist, and song of the year. As well as performing live, Sample King is a multi-faceted artist and entertainer. He has hosted a slew of dance parties, has been featured on multiple radio and television shows, and has acted in several movies. A member of ACTRA, Sample King appeared in “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” (Paramount Pictures), “16 Blocks” (Warner Bros.), and “How She Move” (Paramount Vantage).
