Biography

Multi-faceted violinist Jameson Cooper was born in Sheffield, England. He first attracted national attention for his selection as Concertmaster of the National Youth Chamber Orchestra in its debut at the BBC Proms. Following graduation from the Royal Northern College of Music, Cooper continued violin studies in the US with Dorothy Delay and Roland and Almita Vamos. As a soloist and as a founding member of the Euclid Quartet, Cooper has won numerous prestigious competition prizes, an American Masterpieces grant from the NEA, and has earned high acclaim for his performances in major venues across Europe and the US, including Carnegie Hall, the Library of Congress, and the Kennedy Center. With the Euclid Quartet, Cooper serves as Artist in Residence at Indiana University South Bend. His discography includes contemporary solo violin works, Prokofiev Works for Violin & Piano, Spohr Violin Duos, and Respighi ‘s Violin Sonatas. Recordings with the Euclid Quartet include the complete quartets of Bartók, works by Hugo Kauder, Dvořák and Wynton Marsalis.
