The JJ Explosion from Tampere, Finland got started some decade ago as loose jam sessions at Studio JJ by Otto Hallamaa (guitar), Juha Leppäharju (bass) and Markus Ojala (drums). Before the first show also Turkka Vuorinen (keyboards) joined. What makes The JJ Explosion exceptional is that all the performances are based on improvisation. So the band goes on without any plans and let it just flow…the styles vary from classic rock, blues, jazz, prog to even ambient influences. The outcome also depends on often seen guest musicians, so The JJ Explosion can be described more as a ”concept” than a ”traditional” band. The debut release, ”From Lossiranta With Love”, a live EP with four improvised songs, presented the band as a ”power trio”, so in the spring of 2024 the band entered the legendary Studio JJ in Tampere, Finland, for a series of jam sessions with various line-ups in mind. And Noora was invited to join in… Noora Louhimo, a singer with a big, raspy sound, is best known from the bands BATTLE BEAST and NOORA LOUHIMO EXPERIENCE. Also, she has made several guest vocal appearances during her career, including movies and video games. So, not afraid to use her voice in all the colours possible and her roots in blues and soul music, it was about time to collaborate with The JJ Explosion. Although they had never played together before, the improvised session turned out so great that it was instantly agreed to release three songs as an EP ”When The Magic Happens At JJ’s…”
