Biography

Gian-Luca Zoccatelli was born in Verona. He completed his musical studies at the Conservatory of Mantua and Padua, graduating in flute and singing and in music education. He continued his studies at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy (D.A.M.S.) of the University of Bologna. In 1999 he won the competition "the art of popular song" to participate in the CET, Mogol's perfection school for authors and pop music interpreters. With the group La Venexiana of C. Cavina, he sang in "L'Orfeo" by C. Monteverdi in Eilat (Israel), London, Madrid, Seattle (USA). He collaborated with O. Dantone and Accademia Bizantina in works of C. Monteverdi, (L'Orfeo, Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria, The Coronation of Poppea) performing in the theaters of Cremona, Como, Brescia and Pavia, Reggio Emilia, Ravenna, Ferrara and Bari. In September 2006 he played the roles of Acate and Pirro in the Didone by F. Cavalli under the direction of Fabio Biondi and the Europa Galante in the Teatro La Fenice Foundation in Venice, staging resumed in September 2008 at the Teatro alla Scala Milan;in February 2012 in the Norma in the role of Flavio in Valencia and Pamplona. He performs as a soloist in concert, deepening the Baroque, sacred and chamber repertoire. As a tenor he recorded for the labels Rainbow, Chandos and Tactus. As a flutist and keyboardist, he collaborates with Les sens jazz of Verona, taking part in record productions. He wrote music for television with Edizioni Rai, Rai Pubblicità and GDM editions.
