Biography

Simphiwe Lindokuhle Khangelani Mthembu (born September 24, 1996) is a South African vocalist, composer and songwriter. His stage name is ‘Simmy Sims’. Music wasn’t something he always thought he would do, but his curiosity for the performing arts led to him being a musician. “I got into doing music like most young people, experimenting and imitating their favorite artist. In that stage I realized how much I loved composing and writing, so I put more effort. I started excelling, within that process I found my sound which I continue to polish up.” Simmy Sims’ sound is very diverse and broad, this is due to the fact that he experiments with various sounds and isn’t shy to collaborate with various Producers and Artists. A few of the Producers include NK Beats and Neo Ndawo, and with Artists, his list of collaborations include Aewon Wolf (Wolfpack), Sibu Nzuza (Ambitious Ent), Mnqobi Yazo…just to mention a few. The creative space is something Simmy Sims loves. “I studied fine arts and obtained my diploma at the Durban University of Technology.” Being part of The Werehouse artist incubation program under Aewon Wolf has also played an immeasurable impact on his development and growth. ” I would like to work with Sjava, Anati, Soweto choir and many others.”
