Biography

Bert Gerecht is a producer, bass player, guitarist, singer and writer based in Germany. He describes his favourite music as "funked-up electro-jazz with a bluesey touch". Fascinated by The Beatles, Bert picked up guitar in 1964 and started on bass in a R&B band in 1968. Having discovered Jazz, he studied music in the 70ies, opened the world´s first all-bass shop „Mr. Bassman“ in Frankfurt in 1980, played bass in blues, rock and jazz bands, wrote hundreds of bass-related articles for various international music magazines, and produced 45 bass-heavy CDs in the 90ies for his label „Hot Wire Records“. In 1999 he realized that CDs were on the way out, teamed up with master luthier Magnus Krempel and started building hi-end, hand-made Hot Wire Basses. Every bass completed gets recorded at Bert´s „Blues Farm“ studio before it leaves the workshop. A lot of tracks in various styles thus have emerged, all in the vein of his succesful CD series „Bass-Talk!“. Some of his instrumentals can be heard in German TV features. In contrast to his „Electronic Bass Madness“, in 2010 Bert formed a band together with his wife Petra playing blues and rock ´n´ roll as „Crazee Inlaws“. Here Bert is on guitar and vocals and they perform live with a bass player and a drummer.
