His art music catalog includes compositions for orchestra, chamber ensembles and soloists, the majority of them having been premiered in the Americas and Europe. In 2012, Guerra won a Latin GRAMMY award in the Best Classical Contemporary Composition category (Seducción). Additionally, he has been nominated seven times to the Latin GRAMMY Awards in the same category, and in the Best Classical Album category as well. In 2014, he was the recipient of the Cintas Foundation Fellowship in Music Composition. Guerra was the President of the National Association of Composers USA for the Los Angeles Chapter for two years (2016-2018). In March 2017 he was awarded the UCLA Eugene V. Cotta Robles Fellowship to pursue his doctorate studies in classical composition at the University of California Los Angeles. Yalil has released this month the album titled “Renacimiento. Música de Cámara,” and the album titled “Havana Nights.” As a producer he has worked and created in more than fifty albums. Recently he composed the music for the PBS documentary “Weekend in Havana,” and finished the soundtrack for the movie “The Character,” to be release soon.
