Like the Alchemist and Oh No project Gangrene, but heavier on the grit and psychedelics, Semi Hendrix is a '70s-styled side project from producer Jack Splash and rapper Ras Kass. Splash had worked with artists like Alicia Keys, CeeLo Green, and Sia, and was just finishing a tour with his funk band PlantLife when he proposed the idea to his favorite MC, Ras Kass. With the Pharcyde's Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde and DJ Shadow's Endtroducing..... as their guides, the duo got to work on their debut album, and then signed with the Mello Music Group. In 2015 the label issued the group's LP Breakfast at Banksy's, featuring Raheem DeVaughn, Kurupt, Alice Russell, and CeeLo Green as guests. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
