Biography

MARIA WIRRIES is a Haitian-born, queer, rock n’ roll witch who has spent her entire life training as a vocalist, songwriter, and performer. She has been seen singing solo all across New York City and has performed in multiple shows on and off Broadway while also writing and recording an eclectic array of original music as well as music for other composers. MARIA has made a name for herself as both a composer and a singer with a limitless voice and an undeniably captivating presence on and off the stage. Her influences stretch across all genres from Joni Mitchell to Ariana Grande to Garth Brooks to Chance the Rapper to Cher to Janelle Monáe to Patsy Cline to Green Day to Vulfpeck and beyond. Her music can seen as a unique blend of her personal experiences as a mixed-person growing up in the southern United States with a bottomless well of inspiration to draw from. MARIA’s other great passion is activism for all minority communities. She was present for the 2020 MARCH ON WASHINGTON and has been fighting every day for the rights of BIPOC, trans, queer, and all other marginalized people in the world. Finding ways to intersect these passions is what fulfills her the most as an artist.
