King Kotton was born and raised in Albany, Georgia, an area in the dirty south still laced with dirt roads and cotton fields. Growing up as a young prince he was always talented but focused more on emulating the music around him and rapping about things he was yet to understand. Since the age of 12 he's had an old school flow which he later infused with a modernized trap sound. This rhythmic combination of mixing the real with the turn up assimilated King Kotton and his music into a genre known as Boom Trap, which allows him to embody wisdom through his beats and lyrics. No matter the genre, music is known as a form of expression and King Kotton is an artist who is aware of his existence, thoughts, and surroundings. He uses his music to elevate the minds of his listeners. With "If it was a fifth ideology Kotton believes that someone can't say if they had this or that, they would be better off, or if they had been there this wouldn't have happened. We just have to deal with life as it is. From a prince to a king, Kotton is an artist who is constantly steering away from trite topics like money, cars, and clothes. With the 'we only have now mentality' Kotton is representing the naturality of his culture and enlightening people with his "It Was All A Dream” journey.
