avik chari is a Singapore-based composer and sound designer, using music to explore and promote mental well-being. His music creates immersive and transportive experiences, blending traditional orchestral instruments, lush synths, and organic beats to take listeners on a journey of self-reflection and discovery. His work has been used in museums, VR installations, and performed by ensembles such as the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Transient Canvas, and the Boston Conservatory Chorale. His recent release, Senescence, is a collaboration with Ng Pei-Sian from the Singapore Symphony. The track features haunting, ethereal melodies that blend the emotional intensity of the cello with sounds recorded by underwater divers during a shipwreck expedition. These sounds were captured deep in the ocean and bring a unique and otherworldly quality to the music. "Senescence" was commissioned by the Asian Civilisations Museum as a part of an exhibit on shipwrecks and showcases the beauty and mystery of the underwater world.
