“Right now Arizona has no voice; I want to be that voice,” said Lil Salt. Music is truly in Lil’ Salt’s blood. His father was tragically killed at the young age of 16, approximately eight months before he was born; ultimately leaving a drastic impact on Lil’ Salt’s life. His father was an active member of, (as labeled by the local police) the Notorious Broadway Gangsters, and now the dedicated artist sees his pursuits in music as a fulfillment of his father’s dreams, an extension of his father’s life being that he is his only child. “I feel blessed his talent was passed on to me,” said Lil’ Salt. “So many people tell me I remind them of him. It’s like I’m getting to know my father through my music. I like to channel my thoughts and emotions through music.” Losing his father to gun violence has prompted Lil’ Salt to channel his hurt into positivity through his music and being active in his community. Raised in the neighborhood surrounding 27th street and Broadway, an area of South Phoenix where gang battles and gun violence are commonplace, he has set out to be involved in bettering his hometown; taking part in community clean-ups, peace festivals, and other activities. With his unique story and lyrical skills, Lil’ Salt is gearing up to take the hip-hop world by storm. Known for real and relatable content, with a presence beyond his years, this artist is carving out his own lane. Stay tuned for more from this budding artist as he continue to bring life to the desert.
