Ben Palmer is Chief Conductor of the Deutsche Philharmonie Merck and Babylon Orchester Berlin, and Founder and Artistic Director of Covent Garden Sinfonia, one of London's most dynamic and versatile chamber orchestras. As a guest conductor he works regularly with the Hallé, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra of Opera North, and can regularly be heard on BBC Radio 3 conducting the BBC Singers and the BBC orchestras. Other recent engagements include the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, NDR Radiophilharmonie, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin, London Mozart Players, Sinfonietta de Lausanne, Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg, Pilsen Philharmonic, Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen and Heidelberger Sinfoniker. Personally authorised by John Williams to conduct his film scores in concert, Ben Palmer is one of Europe’s most sought-after specialists in conducting live to picture. His repertoire includes the Star Wars trilogy, Jurassic Park, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jaws, Home Alone, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Back to the Future, Casino Royale, Beauty and the Beast (2017), The Pink Panther, Under the Skin, Psycho and Casablanca. He is also an experienced conductor of silent films such as Metropolis, The Kid and The Gold Rush. In addition to his work as a conductor, he is in demand as a composer, arranger and orchestrator.
