Pyrate is an up-and-coming UK garage artist based in West Yorkshire, born and raised in the Leeds area. A multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ, his music embraces and pushes the sounds of 2-step garage, breakbeat, house and speed garage. Having graduated from university in Nottingham, Tom Girling put everything into crafting the sounds he’s known by and excelling his production and song writing skills. He showcased this with his self-released debut EP titled ‘Patterns’, a euphoric amalgamation of speed garage, jungle/breaks and house. Pyrate’s production ensembles passionate drums, thick basslines, stunning melodics into a beautiful, yet hard hitting union which sets him apart from the status quo of modern garage. In 2024 he released his bootleg of Toxinate’s ‘Nope’ through Dazed, resulting in wide-spread recognition in the garage scene, peaking at #2 in the Hypeddit download charts. Furthermore, the track gained him global support, including a play at legendary dance festival EDC Las Vegas from Four Tet. He also shows confident capability behind the decks, playing high energy shows up and down the country. In 2023 Pyrate represented Crucast in London at their residency of XOYO, as well as performing at the up-and-coming new festival ‘Gemfest’ in summer 2024.
