Biography

With a musical background spanning jazz, indie rock, and chillout music, Ian Campbell is a producer, remixer, and singer/songwriter based in Toronto, Canada. Credited on many albums, soundtracks, and advertisements, Campbell is also a “recovering raver and club kid” who loves dance music of all kinds. In 2011, he gained notoriety by working with Chicago House pioneer, Sterling Void. After remixing several of Void’s tracks, including a new take on the 1988 club classic, "Runaway Girl,” Campbell became the featured vocalist for their collaboration, “Wonder Why.” Since this first big splash, Campbell continues to make soulful House music, working his home territory with talented Toronto singer/songwriter, Talia Shewchuk, and using the Web to collaborate internationally with the UK’s John Steel, Paul “Wainscott” Faulkner, Andy Lakey, and Rachel “Ellektra” James. Campbell has recorded for imprints such as Pukka Up, Motion, Let There Be House, Krafted Music and Bloxbox Records. He has also been remixed by British House institution K-Klass, and, through legendary NYC DJ Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez, released “Uncontrollable,” a soulful vocal track with classic piano riffs. Campbell's latest effort is ”I Still Believe (Joie De Vivre)”, an anthem produced by Boston-based DJ/producer & pianist, Danny Satori. Over elements of Tech House and classic Detroit techno, Campbell sings the tracks’ heartfelt lyrics about overcoming adversity and retaining a vibrant, positive outlook.
