Biography

Brandon Robert Young was born and raised in Enfield, CT. Under the gentle, home-spun teaching of his mother, came the budding of a truly unique voice. Inspired by the songwriting and storytelling of Johnny Cash and Jeff Buckley, Young moved to Nashville in 2000 with a two hundred dollar guitar he didn’t know how to play.“Patience is one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned on this path. Creativity, and saying what you wanna say exactly how you wanna say it, takes time. You rarely get it right on the first try. You gotta want it, be willing to wait for it, and you gotta work for it."Between working shifts dodging traffic as a courier in downtown Nashville, Young sat in his tiny loft apartment and taught himself to play the guitar. “If you want something done, you annoy your neighbors with it until you get it right.” It was alone in that little space that he stumbled toward his first songs, and persisted, relentlessly honing his craft. Even the evening after that time he got hit by a Buick.A heap of dog-eared notebooks, and thousands of lyrics later, Young has spent over a decade traipsing all over the globe collaborating, and performing alongside legendary artists such as John Hiatt, Emmylou Harris, John Carter Cash, Buddy Miller and Young’s wife, actor/singer Clare Bowen. When Brandon isn’t touring abroad with Bowen, he resides with her and a small army of dragons in Old Hickory, Tennessee.
