Alf Carlsson/Jiří Kotača Quartet is a European jazz group consisting of Swedish, Czech and Slovak jazz musicians. They meet in a jazz context, but have allowed themselves to dive into all the different music styles they like, such as pop, rock, scandinavian lyricism or hip hop. Their second album Our Stories (2024) is highly appreciated by critics. “The music is a splendid collection of modern jazz pieces, which combine deep Nordic melancholy and East European lyricism, performed with finesse and obvious talent by all four musicians” The quartet has played dozens of concerts over Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Austria, Germany, Bulgaria and Sweden. All band members, despite their young age, already established themselves on national and European scenes. Alf Carlsson wrote music for the Nobel Prize and Jiří Kotača was nominated for Czech "Grammy" - Anděl Prize in 2020. They work with top jazz musicians such as David Dorůžka, Sulivan Fortner, Ilja Reijngoud or European radio jazz orchestra.
