Paolo Buonvino is an Italian composer and musician. He studied piano at the Conservatory of Reggio Calabria and holds a master’s degree in Music from the University of Bologna. Buonvino began his career collaborating with Franco Battiato. His work is known for its fusion, building connections between classical music and modern genres. He has composed several scores for film and television, working with directors such as Gabriele Muccino, Paolo Virzì, Michele Placido, Ficarra and Picone, Giovanni Veronesi, and Marco Pontecorvo. Some of his most renowned works include the soundtracks for L'ultimo bacio (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), Manuale d’Amore, and music for series like I Medici (Original Soundtrack) , A casa tutti bene - La serie (Original Soundtrack) , and Bene, and Il Gattopardo. In recent years, Buonvino has collaborated with notable pop artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Mahmood, Dolores O’Riordan, Elisa, Jovanotti, Carmen Consoli, and Negramaro. In 2020, he served as the Artistic Director of La Notte della Taranta, Italy’s largest festival and one of Europe’s most important events celebrating popular culture. Held in Salento, the festival is dedicated to the rediscovery and valorization of Salento’s traditional music, blending it with genres ranging from world music to rock, jazz, and symphonic music. In 2022, La Biennale Musica in Venice commissioned him to create an original opera for the 66th International Contemporary Music Festival.
