FREE5OUL – a.k.a. Sascha Doerr – is a Swiss DJ and producer who has been rocking the scene for over two decades. He makes music in order to give his listeners good vibrations, to make them “feel happiness and joy” – a pure intention if there ever was one. At 20 years old, FREE5OUL, discovered house and acid music at a club in Switzerland. It was totally new to him; he describes being “fired up by this kind of music I had never heard before”. Having already spent six years with music, playing electric guitar in a rockabilly band, this was the next step in his musical path. A couple months later he bough a Technics SL 1200 MK2 turntable and a mixer to start DJing… and he hasn’t looked back since. FREE5OUL – or djfreesoul as he was known back then – created quite a name for himself, playing hardcore in almost all of the major Swiss raves and clubs. After a musical hiatus, in 2015 FREE5OUL says the “fire lit up again” – he was back – but this time mostly producing original songs, remixes and, of course, DJ sets. FREE5OUL describes his genre today as house, and he’s carving out as much time as possible to hone his craft. Having had numerous top tens on Beatport Top 100 DJ Charts (including a number one!), he’s heading quickly toward his goal of working full time with music. FREE5OUL is inspired by any kind of music. He likes music that touches his heart. “It can be rock, hip hop whatever. I just need to feel it.” We feel where he’s coming from, and vibe with what he’s doing.
