Jan Benkest is a Cologne (GER) based artist. Rooted in Hip Hop, he started rapping at an early age, played drums and later made guitar his main instrument. He is passionate about looping and combining beats with instruments and vocals. Coming from a multicultural city, travelling around the world and being involved in several multicultural projects, he developed a fine sense for elaborate beats and melodies. He is currently involved in the electronic soul duo “anni YU & Jan Benkest” and the Hip Hop & World music Beat Project “one/five/nine”. His live sets are inspired by artists like FKJ, Tash Sultana and are highly intuitive.
