TASMIC is the Tallest And Shortest Men In Canada. Literally. In their relentless pursuit of perpetual recreation, the Tallest and Shortest Men In Canada ran into each other on a San Diego beach. After bonding over their eccentric bodily dimensions, TASMIC discovered their shared love of unreasonably funky music. With their 2nd EP, TASMIC continues to distill and re-infuse their particular brand of jazz funk disco dance. Made remotely during the COVID-19 lockdown, TASMIC’s latest EP, Songs for Immediate Consumption (2020), features an international star-studded lineup: Montreal-based soul singer extraordinaire Clerel, dangerous Los Angeles bass player Nick Campbell Destroys, and the totally funked Hooligan Horns from across the pond. The first single, “Volleyball en Commando”, is a song about a commonly observed phenomenon in the San Diego area. Hooligan Horns turn up the volume for our best-ever variant of “Unsolicited Entertainment” – culminating in a serious horn-laden funk hoedown. “Fitness Display” features Clerel crooning playfully about the biological underpinnings of the courtship ritual. The fourth track, It’s Black Friday, unleashes a vintage-keyboard laden disco vibe that will make you strut about your day at exactly 115bpm. The closing track, The Vanquished Octopus Jets Away, can simply be described as an end-of-the-world disco party fit for the masses. Don't hesitate to reach out at tasmicmusic@gmail.com! TASMIC is Olivar Asselin and Dan Chown.
