Simonsen's journey through the music industry is nothing short of an epic odyssey. His story begins as a 15-year-old prodigy, spitting rhymes and riding the first wave of hip-hop that crashed upon Europe in the mid-80s. The rhythm and poetry of that era would go on to shape his musical destiny, introducing him to the soulful, funky, and jazzy sounds that would become an integral part of his musical DNA. In his early twenties, the beat of house music found a permanent home in Simonsen's heart. Two tracks in particular, Robin S's "Show Me Love" with its unforgettable organ sound and Faithless's "Insomnia," cast a spell that he couldn't resist. But it was when Simonsen reached the ripe age of 30 that he made a global impact. He joined the dance band Cargo as a rapper and unleashed the track "Pornstar," a sonic force that reverberated across the world. In 2009, he joined forces with producer Aba to form the duo Aba & Simonsen, unleashing seven top 10 singles and exploring lounge and chillout music. Their collaboration even found its way to the World Exhibition in China playing as backdrop for The Little Mermaid.
