Biography

// The most thoughtful Russian composer and performer of new melodic music // Composer and pianist Igor Yakovenko belongs to a new generation of musicians, for which there are no boundaries between classical and non-classical music, as well as the roles of composer and performer. Yakovenko studied Historical, Contemporary Performing Arts and improvisation in Russia - combining outstanding classical piano and harpsichord education with prowess of jazz pianist, he turned into a versatile musician with a unique style. Igor’s brilliant and immediately recognizable style is appreciated not only by the audiences of his solo concerts, performances with impro band “21PM” and avant-jazz trio “Aphonic”, but also by international music experts: he received awards at prestigious contests, including “Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition” (Italy) and “The Art of the 21st Century” (Lithuanien). His contrasting musical background led Yakovenko to multiple projects: he composed opera “Guilty!” for Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre, released four albums on FANCYMUSIC, Russian power place for groundbreaking composer’s music, performed at the leading Moscow venues. At the moment, Yakovenko places special emphasis on composing: this year he will release his new album “False Sonatas” that he also plans to present within the Russian tour.
