Minnesota-based musician Jacob Gossel began making beats on a Korg Electribe drum machine in 2003 at 17 years old, shortly after which he began playing drums, guitar, and writing and recording his own music on a secondhand PC. After becoming burned out as a professional musician composing for TV and advertising, Jacob started Solar Body in 2019 as an outlet for instrumental beats he was making purely for fun. Since then, Solar Body has evolved into a more clearly defined lofi instrumental hiphop sound, with his first release with Lofi Girl / Lofi Records in 2023. Solar Body aims to use his various musical influences to help push the genre of lofi into fresh new territory. When Jacob isn't making Solar Body beats, you can find him making indie psychedelic synth pop as DPLV, or simply outside hanging out with his chickens and enjoying nature.
