Jørgen Krøger Mathisen is a Norwegian violinist, composer and arranger. He has played on a wide span of projects, ranging from theater productions, jazz-ensembles of various sizes, small and large-scale orchestras, to studio recordings with smaller combos — such as Origins and Nybo/Ravn. Jørgen was highlighted in one of the reviews for the record Origins for his solo on the track Origins II. «A fantastic violin solo,” Julian Maynard-Smith wrote, “starkly illuminated against brisk polyrhythmic drumming, concluding with tight ensemble playing towards a heart-stopping finish» (London JazzNews). Despite his young age, Jørgen has worked with a number of established artist such as Gary Husband, Bugge Wesseltoft, and Olga Konkova. He has also been on stages and in recording studios alongside younger talents such as Martin Nodeland, Arne Martin Nybo, Magnus Murphy Joelson, and Markus Bastøe on several occasions. Jørgen Krøger Mathisen’s first solo recording is scheduled to be released the 19th of February 2021.
