Townsend (Joshua Gardner) started his DJ career after a friend taught him the basics while working at a small bar in Alice Springs while on a working holiday. After returning to the Gold Coast, Josh sought further training from Josh Jett (Archane Echo), one of the founding members of Mashd N Kutcher. Josh played his first Nightclub at Birdees (Brisbane) playing as Teddypocolyps in July 2013. Very shortly after, Joshua joined forces with a friend and formed the DJ group, #Hashtags. As #Hashtags, they held residencys at RG's, The Bank, GPO (Brisbane Valley), and 105.7 Radio Metro (Gold Coast). #Hashtags entered a DJ competition at GPO in late 2013, placing in the top 7 and continued on at GPO as residences until #Hashtags split. This is when Josh changed his DJ name to Townsend and took over the GPO residency and 105.7 Radio Metro show on the Gold Coast. In 2016 Townsend entered the DJ competition Yourshot (Brisbane) and placed 2nd in the experienced DJ category. In 2018 Josh was asked to come back as a teacher for the Yourshot competition entrants. Townsend currently holds a residencies at The Met Brisbane, GPO, and hold a Weekly Radio Show called "Pickled Anarchy" Fridays from 11pm on 105.7 Radio Metro.
