Biography

With roots in the late 1990s New York rap scene, Brooklyn native Teflon continues to expand his reach as one of the most lethal and equally underrated emcees in the game. Longtime fans no doubt remember hearing Teflon as a guest on M.O.P.’s explosive sophomore album, Firing Squad, in 1996. The following year, he released his acclaimed debut album, My Will. But it wasn’t until Teflon’s standout performance alongside Jay Z on “4 Alarm Blaze” off M.O.P.’s 1998 LP, First Family 4 Life—combined with his domineering stage presence—that he would catch the eye of DJ Premier. The legendary producer then went on to produce Teflon's 1999-released 12” single, “F.U” b/w "Comin At Cha." Teflon’s buzz, however, reached its pinnacle in 2000 as a result of his appearance on M.O.P's "Ante Up (Remix)” alongside Busta Rhymes and then fledgling star, Remy Ma. This cameo led to a deal with Def Jam Recordings that was brokered by Premier. After a turbulent transition within the company, Teflon’s Def Jam debut failed to see the light of day, and the Brooklyn rapper took a much needed hiatus from the industry. Years later, Teflon would return to join forces with the incredibly talented female producer, Jazimoto, to embark on their 420 Music label. Alongside the help of his longtime friend, Premier, the three would finish Teflon’s long-awaited LP, 2 Sides To Every Story. With decades of experience under his belt, Teflon is firmly in position to share his new music with the world on his own terms.
