The Suspicious Cheese Lords, a Washington, D.C.-based male vocal ensemble specializing in early music, strive to broaden the global repertoire and listenership of choral music by unearthing forgotten works and breathing new life into familiar pieces. Their unorthodox name is based on a playful mistranslation of a Tallis motet. This unique brotherhood provides scholarly yet accessible interpretations of music from all ages in performances that the Washington Post hailed as "genuinely beautiful...rapturous musicmaking.” They have released five world-premiere CDs, featuring previously-unrecorded works by Elzéar Genet, Jean Mouton, Ludwig Senfl, Andreas de Silva, and Palestrina.
