Warrenton, in the Northern Cape, South Africa, is not exactly renowned for its club scene. For aspiring DJ and music producer, DJ ZAfricA, establishing himself in the world of electronic music was a labour of love. He started attending venues such as the Springbok Night Club in Kimberley and 6 Miles Club in Petersburg, driving up to 12 hours to attend these establishments but these venues did not give him access to the type of music he had the greatest affinity with. So Lee decided that in order to fully explore the music he was most passionate about, he would have to leave South Africa and visit places where techno was more widely appreciated. At the age of 29, DJ ZAfricA moved to the UK where he got in touch with London Sound Academy. After completing their Advanced and Elite DJ Course, under the tutelage of some of the finest DJs in London, his talent and passion for techno began to shine through. DJ ZAfricA currently plays at some of the UK’s best-known venues such as EGG, Ministry Of Sound, Bankside Vaults as well as overseas in Poland at clubs such as Protokultura Gdańsk & Luzztro in Warsaw.
